Trileptal and Paxil together, anyone ?

Posted by Notaliseliz on July 6, 2004, at 14:54:34

Hi, I've been on trileptal for almost a month, up to 600 mg a day, and the doc wants me to do 900 mg. I started taking paxil along with it yesterday, 20 mg last night and 20 this am.
I have one of the "uncommon" side effect listed on the drug pamphlet--YAWNING.
It gets worse when I'm driving, for some reason. My jaw hurts 'cause I yawned so much today!

And I'm nauseaus (SP?) and since I started the trileptal everything smells FUNKY and turns my stomach. I need to lose weight so that's kinda ok for me, but it's making me sick. I swear I can smell the mold in the walls. I've been smelling it for weeks and my husband finally said yesterday he smelled something too.

I was taking another SSRI bthat I stopped in the first few days of taking the trileptal because I was convinced the two together were aggravationg the yawning. I then went on to start very aggressive, MEAN, nasty behavior, lashing out at complete strangers in the store, not to mention what I did at home.

Oh, and I read another few posts that talked about racing heart--mine was JUMPING out of my chest, not only racing, but totally irregular. It's not as bad now, but it still happens, and I'm sure it will get bad when I up my dose tomorrow.

Oh yeah, and I have bubbly ears. Like I talk and there's air in my head. (I'm not and airhead.) LOL

For what it is worth, I had the smell/taste thing too when I was on Trileptal and also the heart racing (I assume it was my post you were referring to now that I think about it). Everything except fruit and ice cream tasted so very strange to me while on that medication. It was very odd.

For me Trileptal was a failure but it might not be for you. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone with the strange sensations.

Sorry I can't help you otherwise but I was on Trilpetal as monotherapy with no anti-depressant.

Hiya,
Well, I really can't see anything changing with the trileptal, for good or bad.
I'm really thirsty though.
How long did you take it? And for what exactly?
Did you lose weight? I think I have in the last month but I haven't weighed myself.
My face is breaking out alot, but I don't know if it's related.
Oh, and I SWEAR my sweat smells different--sorry, a bit gross.
