My Doctor has placed me on 25mg a night of Seroquel to wean me off of Lorazepam.
A little freaked out with it being an antipsychotic and all!
Will it make me hear voices or something????
I am not schizo or bi-polar...I was just depressed and anxious 2 years ago, and haven't been able to give up the Lorazepam.
Feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Bob

Don't worry, it will not give you psychotic episodes ... quite the contrary, it might sedate you quite a bit.
I'm not psychotic and they tried giving me some simply to augment the effects of the antidepressant and to kill the insomnia.
However, if you have low bp, it could make you a bit more dizzy and if you're prone to seizures like me, some antipsychotics actually lower the treshold for one to start ... so thats something to watch.
My advice would be to take it right before you go to bed, you'll sleep VERY well.

Seroquel is one of the mildest of the a-typical anti-psychotics. It's often used to treat anxiety. It's REALLY sedating though. It is often used to help people sleep, for anxiety and to augment an anti-depressant.

I've been on Seroquel 75mg at bedtime for two years now. I am always guaranteed a good night sleep. I am BPII and also take Lamictal. Initially when I started the Seroquel I was quite groggy in the morning. That went away after a couple of months and now I awake ready to go.

I really suggest starting on the drug slowly. I was started on 100mg and it was not a pleasant experience.
I would say start at 25mg and work your way up to whatever dosage you and your doctor are aiming for.
Just my experience.

I have not had luck with seroquel, despite its sedating effects, it caused me to have akathisia, which is surprising given that it's known for sedation... I popped an adderall and it helped, hopefully that dreadful akathisia won't come back again though.
