Hi,
I've been taking Lamictal for 3 years or more without any problem. However, since 2 weeks, i have some painful swollen glands in my neck. When i stop the Lamictal, the pain and discomfort vanish after 3 days. If i resume the Lamictal the pain comes back with a kind of fever.
This week i've been unable to reach my pdoc. She will call me back next monday. Is this a severe condition? Do i have to fear this symptom? Is it the end of Lamictal for me???
P.S. Actually i'm off Lamictal. But since i'm bipolar II i'm anxious because the symptoms of depression seem to reappear gradually.
Thanks in advance!

http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/safety/1997/lamict.htm
"The WARNINGS section has been revised to include the following information regarding hypersensitivity reactions:
Hypersensivity reactions: Hypersensitivity reactions, some fatal or life-threatening, have also occurred. Some of these reactions have included clinical features of multiorgan dysfunction such as hepatic abnormalities and evidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation. It is important to note that early manifestations of hypersensitivity (e.g., fever, LYMPHADENOPATH ->glands related) may be present even though a rash is not evident. If such signs or symptoms are present, the patient should be evaluated immediately. LAMICTAL should be discontinued if an alternative etiology for the signs or symptoms cannot be established."

Hi
I don't get why these symptoms appeared after 3 years..but I had to stop Lamictal because I had exactly the same symptoms on start up.
It could be an allergic reaction .
Some people develop nut allergy , wheat allergy etc after many years of eating them.Maybe reduce ..but I'd stop and see your doc.
This is the end of the thread.
