> Thanks Bride - This is gonna sound weird, but I'm wondering if wellbutrin is better for older people (I'm 40)? Most of the people I know who are on it and like it are older than me!! I'm a little nervous to switch and have warned my husband that the next few weeks may be a bit rocky .... poor thing!

Hey Em this was your last post:

Hey guys. i know i've been MIA. i've been so busy at work! i'm feeling pretty good. i've been cutting down the xanax and switched to the morning. i'm on 17.5 now. i still have a bit of fogginess (it's been about 4 months now) but feel better than i had. i'm not in a constant "what if i freak out" state." as far as weight, i've stayed about the same, but i can lose or gain weight as i always had (as in, if i work out i lose, etc)...i tend to think that with ssri's the weight gain or loss isn't as much about the actual meds as it is about the emotion that comes w it...ie some ppl eat more when they feel worse, some eat less, etc. anyway, i hope everyone is well! xox E

I have been trying to talk to you for over a month and no response I thought you were mad at us or me for something....I havent been feeling well with the increase of just the lex all together so dont post too much...I do post if I think that someone neeeds me and needs to talk...Your last post didnt sound like you needed anyone to talk to and you werent upset...I'm sorry if you feel that way ...I have been waiting to hear from you myself and was sad when you didnt write..We both started at the same time so I thought we could help each other through..I do realize that I can be a pain sometimes seems like all I do is complain lately about how I'm not feeling good and my increase to 17.5 but I am always here for anyone that needs me...Take care my freind and I hope that you find your way...luv Your friend Mystic

Cycle has something to do with issues??

In reply to Re: :(, posted by bride2be on June 21, 2004, at 23:15:01

Hi All,

You're all good eggs as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Well, I'm feeling much better. Started on a multi-vitamin in addition to my Lex. I know this discussion belongs on the "alternative" board - but I think that good diet and nutrition can maybe supplement the meds.

One thing I've learned since coming to the board is that a lot of women have trouble around their periods. I haven't linked the two before, but last month that was definitely when I had trouble. I've had trouble in the past, but can't tell now if it was during "that time of the month" or not. I will have to pay attention now. One thing for sure - if it turns out to be true - the difficulty will be so much easier to bear. There's something about having a "reason" for madness!!! I hate feeling like I'm just crazy (and it's hard to tell yourself you're not crazy when in the middle of depression/anxiety).

Take care all!
Mo

Hi Trucker - can you tell me what your side effects were? How long have you been on it? I'm sure you've posted this info. before, sorry to ask again, but I can't ever remember who's taking what :-)! After being on Lex for 9 months, I was hoping my body was used to chemicals and wouldn't react so strongly to a new med! Wishful thinking maybe?!?!?

Also, my presciption is for 150 mg and doc told me to take 2 per day for the first few days. What do you think of that?
Thanks,
Lynne

Hi Mo -
You are right about the cycling thing. All my issues are wrapped around my cycle. My diagnosis is PMDD - pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder - AKA really hellacious PMS! It's exacerbated by peri-menopause and all the lovely symptoms that go along with that :-). It does REALLY make a difference to me too, thinking that my depression and anxiety has a reason and a pattern to it - & maybe it will go away at some point! But, until then, thank goodness for meds. You are right not to forget about good nutrition and exercise. Reading your post reminded me to take my vitamin!

Take care of yourself too!

Em,
Like I said before, I think babble can be a really wonderful tool or a harmful one. Its great because there are people that have similar experiences to yourself and it makes a wonderful support group. However, if you find yourself dwelling on our own illness too much because of it, it is really good to know what helps you and what hurts you. I know myself I had to cut back because it was making me focus too much on what was going on, now that I am feeling stable, I find it helps me to give advice to others. Plus I adore my friends here! Best of luck, and all my prayers to you.
Lexy

Hey Mo,
I know what you mean about the cycle thing. I have been feeling really well lately and yesterday was feeling not so well. I remembered that the cycle is just around the corner. I unfortunatly have a weird reaction when I try to take vitamins with my lexapro...especially calcium. If you start feeling strange know that it might me your vitamin. Best of luck!!

Hey Mo, you're right on! Knowing that there is a reason for the madness does help. I have to say that since I started 20mgs my cycle has improved greatly. I still get a bit edgy but nothing compared to what used to happen. Hopefully it will stay this way. good luck to you. Mrs. C

Hey everyone - sorry I have been so out of the loop! I was out of town for work. Lexy - the horror stories I read were from this site, but maybe i was being too dramatic! :) I have just read about a lot of weight gain and extra side effects. That would be horrible for me. I have been on lex for just over two weeks and already cannot have an orgasm! I am SO incredibly bummed. I seriously hope this goes away. My poor boyfriend is just not happy about it. :)

Anyway - I am also having some weird issue with my right eye. It gets kind of watery and blurry. I still have headaches and some dizziness. I hope it all passes soon.

Hope everyone is having a good week!
