Hi, I have been taking strattera now for a little over two weeks, and it seems to be making my deppression even worse. It was strange, for the first few days I was able to concentrate better, but then that went away, and now I am even more depressed than I was, practically suicidal. This has gotta be the medication. Just wondering if anybody else has had this kind of reaction to it. I know that it has actually been used as an antidepressent for some. Thanks!

Yes, this medicine can cause depression in people. There are a particuar subgroup of people that get very suicidal in the presence of norepinehprine reputake inhibitors. I am one of them.
Tell your doctor, and find another way to treat your attention problems. Ritalin may not cause the same depression.

Strattera caused depression in my teenage daughter. Melancholic symptoms improved upon discontinuation. We're going to see a researcher to sort out her issues. I believe her attentional difficulties are part of a larger, stress disordered system.
