Have any of you tried Provigil and if so what was your experience and what meds did you add it to?

Since I have been taking stimulants for so long it did nothing for me, but make me sick to my stomach, dizzy, and left me crashing. It is one of the most expensive drugs you can take. It works well for some.

> starlight>I was given Provigil for depression- I was SO fatigued. I started at 100 mgs-I took it about 9am and completely crashed at 4pm. I would start at 50 if I had to do it over again. It did NOTHING for my depressive syptoms; but at least I was up and able to function. I take it everyday (2 yrs now) I also have to take Xanax becuz my mood drops dramatically about 5 hrs after taking it. I NEVER had an anxiety problems before. It totally suppresses my appetite; sure helps with constipation though! I do not advise taking it in the afternoon: it will make it hard to fall asleep. Also, do not stop suddenly if you take it everyday. It induced crying, anxiety, hopeless feelings--just like the Adderall XR and Ritalin that I recently tried to help overcome this fatigue. (The provigil is not working so well lately) Hope this helps.

It caused anxiety and my mood was really unstable while on it. I know it's not a typical stimulant but it works no better than any stimulant I've taken before. My mood brightens for a (very) few hours then I crash hard untill it finally wears off. Most find that, like other stimulants tolerance builds rather quickly. The price is also ridiculous. For me it was nothing special.

Provigil has been the amazing no-side-effect med for me since I began taking it more than a year ago. Provigil made me much less sleepy, and that is the only effect I noticed. But if I wanted to sleep, I found that Provigil did not keep me awake in the way that most stimulants do. I have taken Provigil with the following meds (although not all at the same time): Wellbutrin, Adderall, Strattera and selegiline/deprenyl. There were no problems with any of them. Provigil is expensive, but I have always felt that I was getting my money's worth from it.
