I dont really understand why? she's taking 20's and she forgets evrything.. her asthma attacks are almost dayly now.. the used to be weekly(pre-Lex) and shes become a binge sleeper... She's an absolute freak in the bed.. she's always horney.. but I feel like shes a whole different person.. she used to be on zoloft and before that welbutrin and those were much kinder to her.. I think the docotrs are paid to push this crap.. I know she needs something but am I crazy here.. or does this all seem messed up.. thanks.. Plaese respond and let me know your opinions.. People who R or were on LEx.. I want to here the voices of experience.. Thanks - KRUNK

I too was on zoloft,it did a serviceable job than I heard from a doctor who was treating me for knee injury and he asked me whether I was on any medication that might interact with the pain killers.I told him I was on Zoloft and then he went on how Lexapro was the best anti-depressant ever to come out and was explaining the benefits of its unique isomer blah blah blah!!!
When I went to my pdoc and told him to change me to Lexapro to my suprise he was excited.
well i tried it over 3months and not only was i irretable, emotional, tired all the time when i was making love to my girlfriend it took forever to climax and most times i was too tired to continue, its fustrating. My advice for what its worth go back to the old and tested SSRI like Zoloft or Prozac.I swirched to prozac and I am happy with it.But Zoloft like I said was pretty good for me.Next time a new drug comes along I will wait a few years to see whether it builds a good track record.Good luck with it

Have been on Lex 15mos., started @5mg, currently @30mg. Had a rash first couple of weeks but it went away, no other skin problems. Have a *forgetfulness* problem too, but had it before I started Lex. No asthma either. Was an insomniac befor Lex, now I fall asleep easily and sleep soundly through the nite. By day, drink coffee to motivate, and have found if I get up and start moving that ole *Lex Lethargy* vanishes. As for bedroom, it takes longer. I do feel like a different person.....the much happier person I used to be long ago. Lex has done wonders controlling my PMS!!!

Best of luck to you both~~~8|8

Thanks everyone for your responces. It helps me to perspectivize things. It's hard to ask hard questions like these to people who are close to you because you never know how they will react. I dont want to upset her with my concers and I dont even know if my concerns are founded, in todays age of a pill for every problem. Thanx bunches for your replys. -Krunk I am starting to belive her sex drive and sleep schedule are Lex related but now feel perhaps the Ashma and skin may have some other cause. The forgetflness is what worries me the most. She rarely is able to say what she had for lunch, or where she went yesterday. It's amaising. Her shortterm memory is gone. Please anyone who has any thoughts, advise , or comments on this please feel free to chime in. -Krunk

Krunk, how long has she been on Lex and at what dose?

How did she build up her dose to the present level?

When did the side effects become noticeable?

All these questions may be relevant because there is often a period when starting SSRIs (such as Lexapro) when the med has not kicked in but the side effects are present. This is the hard period.

SSRIs are often not taken for long enough to judge them. Too low a dose may also be a problem. Some people can tolerate more than others so don't be fixated by the reference guide suggestions for dosage. For some conditions three or four times the dose for depression may be needed and may be tolerated by some people.

Having said all that, each SSRI can affect different people differently. It is possible that your daughter is one who can not tolerate them well and Lex is one of the easier to tolerate ones.

Good luck.

She has been on LEX since January of 2004. She was started on 5mgs for 1 mnth. then 10 for 2mnths. then 20's. Her ashma got really bad at the end of March and has contiued to worsten. Her sleep habits are weird. She will sleep for 16-20 hrs at a time then stay up for long periods. Her skin worsened almost immediatly in Febuary after she started taking it. Her forgetfullnes has grown since March... She now can not often remember what she had for lunch. Or where she went or what she did the previous day. But if you meantion things to her she will sometimes spark a memory. It's like she knows but is unable to recal. Thnks -Krunk
