No bs from me, just a desire to know! Been on effexor for a year now and cannot argue with the beneficial effects. Just wonder, how long will I have to take it. Tried easing off a couple of weeeks ago for three days and started feeling bad again. My Doc. says maybe five years but I don't want to take it that long for various reasons! Also take several other meds for hypertension including xanax. Doc says the xanax only masks the other problems! Some days the xanax is the only thing that makes me feel better. Other days I just drink beer and feel better. A year ago I only felt worse when I drank beer. So I didn't drink and still felt like chit!
Any suggestions??

hi poppi.....i can comment that xanax is not indicated for hypertension...and i defer to posters Sad Panda, Kon, ace, SLS, King Vultan, and jlb121 for effexor stuff, as it is not my area....as an aside, if you feel better on effexor, stay with it, but you indicate that there are reasons why you do not want to take it for a long stretch...so, post a thread for the others in re: effexor long term, as i am not in the know....and xanax i *do* know is not as your doctor is advertising......apologies for the redirect, but you'll get better suggestions from the others....all the best, chemist
