I know someone who is on Effexor and Adderall, which I thought was strange because I've read that the two aren't supposed to be used together and can result in serotonin syndrome. This girl also uses coke fairly regularly. Is this safe?
Also, I have a pdoc appointment in a week and am going to ask for some kind of stimulant. I've taken Ritalin and Dexedrine in the past {Dexedrine worked best for me) but haven't for some time because it's been difficult to get an appointment with an MD since I've moved. What do people with ADD on Effexor tend to take? Are there any new drugs? Can I not take Dexedrine now that I'm on Effexor?
Thanks!

ask for provigil. it is not very serotonergic. the stimulation is not as generalized as amphetamines, but it can be very effective.

Zefdie:
I used the "Drug Interactions Checker" at an online pharmacy website and came up with advice of "generally avoid" for the combination of Effexor and a variety of amphetamines. There's plenty of detail at
http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.htmlIt doesn't sound like a good idea unless you are monitored very closely.
Good Luck,
Mr S.

>Effexor + Amphetamines won't give you serotonin syndrome, but it will most likely do bad things for blood pressure, so it should be constantly monitored.
