Starting this combo tonight....seeing my doc in a minute....apart from cyproheptadine (serotonin syndrome) and nifedipine (hypertensive crises), what would i need in case a problem interaction arises between the two??

Hey dude!I need as much help as possible on my thermo (my organic chemistry is good, physical chemistry OK, and my physics needs work)...If we post about it here, I think Bob will move it to the student board.
Maybe inquire about getting on the student board to Bob directly...
I would love to discuss this stuff with you!

The current best treatment of SS(serotonin syndrome) is with 5-HT2A antagonists. Chlorpromazine & cyproheptadine are the prefered drugs for treatment of SS as they are potent 5-HT2A blockers, lots of drugs are great 5-HT2A blockers, Remeron is one of them, so while you are taking Remeron you have less chance of SS. This also explains why amitriptyline can be taken with MAOI's even though it is a moderate SRI as it is a good 5-HT2A blocker.
