Remeron discontinuation?

Posted by fires on April 24, 2004, at 20:09:22

Stopped low dose remeron several days ago, now feel flu-like bodyaches and fatigue. Was taking between 7.5 to ~11 mg/night. Anyone heard of this?

Thanks

of course u will feel like that on such low doses of remeron the lower you take the more sedating it is... the higher you take the less sedating it is... but if you start to get sore throat or any other sign on infection talk to your doctor right away..

thanks

Thanks for your reply. I was taking the low dose for sleep only. I learned last night, after a horrible day yesterday, that I had inadvertently taken only 1 mg of Clonazepan at bedtime the night before, instead of my usual 2 mgs. I had gotten sample subl Klonopin wafers from my Doc and forgot they were only 0.5 mg each, hence the error. Won't do that again. Have been on 2 mgs at night for MANY years. So much for tolerance and addiction. More like dependent, as my Doc says.

Bye

Did restoring the proper amount of klonopin relieve your symptoms?

I just started Remeron and am getting conflicting messages about whether or not it has a discontinuation syndrome associates with it.

Hope you are doing well now!

Yes, quite rapidly. I had strange flu like bodyaches and fatigue, then weird thinking, and other strangely undescribable "brain" symptoms. Not sure if they were all due to Klonopin dose reduction, but fairly certain most were.

My Doc had warned me about not stopping it suddenly, which I knew already. She said that some people even have seizures from tapering off of it too fast.

Best wishes
