I last wrote of vivid, Effexor-withdrawl-related dreams. Well now it looks like I'm having them regardless, and having read that such dreams are common with this drug, I suppose I should get used to it. Only problem is that these dreams tend to make me "act out" in bed the scenarios in my dreams. This has led recently to my violently swinging my elbow (a defensive gesture in my dream) into my nightstand, resulting in a big bruise. Strangely enough I slept right through it and had to figure out the next morning why my elbow was sore and why my nightstand was knocked over. And if it isn't a crazy kinetic dream response it's two hours of insomnia. Is this stuff really worth it? I mean, I feel less dark and I'm not brooding as much, but now I'm destroying my furniture and my body at night. Oh well.

Sorry about the bruise....
I have noticed that my dreams on Effexor XR and Seroquel have moderated, but they are SOOOOOOOOO much more vivid than before AD's...
I also noticed that the really weird, violent dreams were mainly when I started Effexor and during ramp-ups in doseage. They tend to moderate with time.
For instance I dreamed this morning just before waking that I was writing lyrics for a song for my daughter whose 17 and will be leaving home in a year for college :-(
It was so REAL. The lyrics were beautiful and I was sobbing the whole time in the dream because I love her so much.
Wish I had a photographic memory and could remember what they were...

Indeed. The vividness, the almost absolute realism of the dreams is amazing. I remember composing music and poetry that, at least in the dream, was quite good. I too wish my crazy dream was put on tape; it would surely win a Golden Globe at least.
Now it turns out that Effexor also has some dermitilogical side effects; it tends to affect blood capilaries and such. I saw a MD this morning because the arm I smashed became numb and developed all sorts of red blotchy marks. He said the blotchiness was the Effexor. My numbness was because of a contusion of a main nerve. They will NOT have to remove my arm.
You should be proud of your daughter. I have no kids, and sometimes I envy situations like yours even though her leaving is sad for you now. Good luck and thanks for the response.
