I have never had blood pressure problems. I am 33 and two weeks ago suddenly started having high blood pressure. I am now on a blood pressure medication and am not responding despite increased dosage. My internist feels strongly that all of the medications I am on are causing this. I have been on high doses of a lot of different medications for years. I have been taking my current meds for over a year. After being on meds for that long could they be the cause of my sudden high blood pressure? I am currently taking the following:
Effexor XR - 450mg
Klonopin - 1mg am,noon,pm and 2mg at night
Neurontin - 600mg 3 x's/day
Adderall - 30mg 2 x's/dayI wanted to get other peoples opinions. To me it seems like if the meds would cause problems they would have done so a long time ago. I am having trouble understanding how they could be the cause of my rise in blood pressure when I have been on them so long. Thank you for any information or advice!!!

I would try lowering Effexor down a little to see what that does, it would be the one most likely to raise BP.
Cheers,
Panda.

It's the Effexor!! When I was on Effexor, my doc advised me that she would have to monitor my blood pressure as Effexor could possibly cause high BP.
....handle your business!!

Ditto on the effexor for me. I only went up to 150mg and my BP shot up way too high: 165/115. I was cut back to 75mg and the pressure immediately dropped back to normal.
