ARICEPT FOR ADHD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Posted by aazospiro on April 8, 2004, at 8:05:06

I have been reading about increasing incidences, both on this site and on the general internet about Aricept [Donepizil HCL] being used as an adjunct to stimulants to treat ADHD. Can this drug be of use in younger folks without alzeihmers? This is quite interesting. I have read about this med and a similar one on the market called Reminyl [Galantamine] and notice that by their fundamental pharmacodynamic property, they can cause excessive vagal stimulation. Has anyone on this site had experience with it? Would it be useful for individuals who suffer from ADHD/depression/anxiety and related noncardiac related/anxiety induce tachycardia instead of the beta blockers???

I don't have any direct experience of Aricept or Galantamine.

I've seen plenty of studies of pubmed that show effectivness of Aricept for concentration and vigilance.
Not sure if it would help with anxiety?

Some one on this board, I think it was Chairman MAO uses Galantamine for ADHD, which he says is more powerful than Aricept.

Applogies to Chairman MAO if i got this wrong!
