Cold turkey stories

Posted by cpallen79 on March 25, 2004, at 13:15:22

I've been wondering (not because I want to do it-but out of curiousity). has anyone ever quit an SSRI cold turkey or dropped too fast and was able to stay off of the meds and not go back? I'm curious to know because we all know the terrors of tapering too fast. Has anyone beat a cold turkey withdrawal? How long were your problems? What kind of side effects did you have? (i.e brain zaps, tremoros, depression, anxiety, Let me know!

All medication changes I ever did where stopping an antidepresant and starting the other at the same day. There were more, but the side effects I remember most are blurred vision, brain zaps, joint pain and anxiety. They came from the mix of side effects and withdrawal of the two ADs. It is not the same as quitting one medication.

Besides that, I quit Zoloft cold turkey twice, not taking anything after quitting. I had no withdrawal effects. I just had the anxiety and depression back after about 10 days.
