Hi, my husband and I started taking Effexor a few weeks ago and I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced these side effects as well..
-loss of appetite (I lost 8 pounds in 2 wks)I've heard that people usually gain weight on these.
-no feelings ( don't care )lack of emotion
-extreme tiredness yawning all the time
-yeast infections or discharge ( I actually got a pap test that came back clear and I totally thought that I had a yeast infection, both my husband and I were burning and irritated down below which has never happened before so we thought that it might be the meds.
-moodiness and bitchinessI know and heard of all of the more common side effects but these ones I haven't heard of so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else experienced anything like this
Also since I've been on Effexor for such a short time do think that withdrawal will be easier? It just is not agreeing with me. I'm going to try Homeopathy.

I lost 15 pounds on Effexor. It was the anorexia, which is a common side effect for some people. I also had the emotionless feeling alternating with bitchiness and intense irritation.....plus a myriad of other bad side-effects The withdrawal symptons are evn worse, but at least while going through them (as I now am), you have the knowledge that the crap is coming out of your system.......Good luck with other homeopathic routes.

I've had some of the side effects you've noted and have also gotten to the point where I really *like* Effexor: it does what it's supposed to do.
The side effects moderate and/or go away with time. Also, some people are very sensitive to meds and need less, so a lower doseage might work better.
Many here have had bad experiences when stopping Effexor or even reducing the doseage. I have not had any ill effects when I reduced doseage from 225mg to 75mg. I can also bump my dose to 150mg on bad days with no ill effects.
Keep in mind that almost ALL medications have some sort of side effect(s), even aspirin... The people that frequent these bulletin boards are the *power* users if you will, and you tend not to hear from the vast majority of people who've had no problem.
Keep track of your side effects, keep an open dialog with your PDoc and good luck!
