Porridge Oats.

Posted by colin_wallace on January 14, 2004, at 11:29:04

Well, it's got absolutely nothing to do with porridge actually(although it's jus' great with golden syrup.....)Okay so I need therapy.

Anyway, I wanna know if anyone has (*ever*) been prescribed an MAOI in this dingy dungeon we call the UK??
I was recently unable to get a stimulant prescribed here for ADD, and my shrink looked at me as though I'd molested her daughter at the mere mention of MAOI's-especially Parnate.

Right, I've asked this MAOI question once before(first time I 've *never* got a reply on this board, and I was mortally wounded for..seconds).
So, someone get back to me on this, or I'll throw my teddybear down and start ranting and bawling.Don't let me down!!Or else.I know some very nasty people here ;)

The Col.

Sorry, I'm not in the U.K. and so can't answer your question, but I just had to reply for the sake of sparing the life of that poor teddy bear. :-)

Ame,

Do you live somewhere where you get more sunshine than here (like the dark side of the moon?)
If so, I feel a burgeoning love for you, and feel strongly that we should marry......

Plenty of sunshine here in southeast Texas, but you may find that marrying me brings you more than you bargained for (i.e. a penis). lol

Ah, that was very funny, thanks.

I'm sure MAOIs are available in the UK, I just don't know which ones. You just need to get a different shrink. Many psychiatrists have trained exclusively with "candy" antidepressants like SSRIs and don't have the confidence in themselves and their patients to prescribe potentially dangerous drugs (which internists and other specialists do routinely.)

You might have better luck with an older psychiatrist, one who did his residency in the early eighties or earlier.

My Gp will prescribe whatever I want. I have no respect for him and dont trust him. My pdoc, however, is very "conservitive", as the theripists, of her firm refer to her. She got me on the right track W/ Wellbutrin and Trileptal. I get the xanex from my GP, for my PDOC is benzophobic. I only take the xanex "as needed"; which seems more and more, "needed". I really believe I need to add AN SSRI, but wont take it with out my PDOCS input, or opinion.
I see a new Pdoc 02-02/04 and am nervous, yet excited to see what his DX will be.
~~~~~~ Maybe we can marry. I need someone in my life who could really understand "mood swings", which has been the downfall of each one of my relationships.
Best Wishes,
Cindy
I'm certain I would be most attentive (ahhhhhhh, I can feel a caress coming on already), but I'm afraid I can't take any more chances after Ame..
One penis was bad enough, but for all I know , you may have two!
Let's nip this thing in the bud, eh, and just remain good friends?....wouldn't want to spoil things.....
