I need some input from people taking Paxil. Trying to compare morning vs bedtime dosing.

If you can sleep on it then bedtime dosing will give you the most freedom from side effects. Early evening may also work.
However if this is not possible then morning might be necessary.

I used to take 30mg in the morning, but it sedated me way too much. I was almost falling asleep at work everyday!
My doctor then suggested I take it in the evening, about 6 or 7pm, after a meal. I found that the daytime drowsiness decreased, which was great! I don't think it makes much difference when you take it. Try it in the morning, but if you find the drug too sedating (as I did) switch to taking your dose in the evening.

Take it in the evening about 4 hours before you want to go to sleep. A sedating effect should kick in about then.

I took Paxil starting 7 years ago, before the slow release version. Took 40mgs/day. I found it best to take at night in the begining. I think it helped alot w/ side effects. I didnt experience too many side effects. Then I would take half at night, half in morning. eventually all 40mgs in the morning. Experiment. Everyone's body is different. Paxil worked **great** for me. But I love Wellbutrin :)

Just curious, why did you eventually switch to morning and not stick with night time dosing? Side effects, except sexual, are not a problem at all. With Paxil's short half life I was wondering if there were any benefits with morning dosing versus nightly dosing?

Interesting. I only took 10 mg. I took it at dinnertime at first, then would head into my office to work (I did weird hours), and whammo. At 10 pm I'd become so overwhelmed with fatigue that it was all I could do to stand up, put on my jacket and drive the 2 miles or so back home. Then my doctor said to take it a little later, that four hours was about the magic number, and that worked out okay.
That's great that you didn't experience too many side effects. I did like it - it was so helpful and I had relatively few side effects. Till the bipolarity of my depression made itself known, but oh well. Some of my friends have done *really* well with it.
