question? can acute anxiety be BPII

Posted by Jaynee on December 20, 2003, at 13:23:51

Can hypomania be mistaken for acute anxiety in BPII?

My new shrink thinks I may have an underlying BPII disorder. I don't feel I have ever been manic, I have suffered from the worst case of anxiety a few times, and I have been very depressed at times, but never manic. Could I still be BPII.

Anyone have any good sites that explain BPII.

Thank you

Hi Jaynee,

I am bipolar 1.

Perhaps your doctor thinks your anxiety is actually hypomania, though you usually feel very good when you're hypomanic.

At any rate, you might want to check out

Best of luck...

The above is a good site explaining BP2. Actually it even mentions in the site that often it is hard to diagnose between BP2 and Depression and anxiety. I think this site will help you figure it out.

Good luck to you.
