I am wondering if anyone has any recent experience with Luvox. I have found some older threads, but nothing lately.
I am bipolar and I tend to obsess and ruminate. Lately, I've also been suffering with a moderate amount of anxiety that is causing some disruption in my life.
I see my pdoc tonight and would like to have some anecdotal information.
I am currently taking:
Abilify 30 mg
Celexa 80 mg
Lamictal 200 mg
I would appreciate any input.Thanks!

You sound very much like me! I posted recently asking for any recent experience with Luvox and got some interesting responses but not a whole lot of specifics.
Like you, I am also bipolar and I also tend to obsess and ruminate. I also have generalized anxiety disorder, and it can wreack havoc in my life. So I understand totally where you're coming from.
I did try Luvox awhile back and found it on the sedating side, so I took it at night. However, I had to stop it because I was taking another SSRI (EffexorXR) and got serotonin syndrome. My pdoc at the time and I decided it was more important for me to remain on the EffexorXr for depression than Luvox for just bits and pieces of OCD.
By the way, I also take Celexa (50 mg) and Lamictal (200 mg)
Please let me/us know what transpired during your visit with your pdoc - did he/she start you on Luvox? If so, what dose, and what dose does your pdoc want you to reach?
Good luck 2 U

Hi Janelle...Thanks for your reply. My pdoc was reluctant to put me on Luvox because I've had a lot of other med changes lately and the Celexa has been the one constant throughout my treatment. He may change this later if the other meds work out. I was previously on Zyprexa and I think it must have helped considerably with my anxiety, since the increased agitation seemed to occur after coming off it. Zyprexa was a great drug for me and I credit it with changing my life, but the weight gain that came with it (and the constant hunger!) was more than I could bear.
I will post a follow-up on Luvox if I switch to it.
Thanks again for writing!
This is the end of the thread.
