Lexapro Withdrawl

Posted by artistekevin on November 22, 2003, at 11:01:27

Well, after about 5 years of playing the SSRI game I finally decided I have had it... I have put on 40 lbs, don't feel good at all, and only stay on them because the withdrawl is soooo awful..

Anyway.. Long story short, I started the tapering process about 4 weeks ago... The pharmacist and doctor told me go slooooooooow. I'm now down to 1/4 of a tablet.

It's been really super easy honestly.... I've tapered off these kinds of drugs before, but had to go right back on because I couldnt take the withdrawl. Paxil and Effexor were the WORST. I've had some slight nausea that has been easily controlled by motion sickness meds from the dugstore.

Also, EXERCISE. About 3 months ago I knew that I was going to start the process.. so I began a running program.. After I got to a poaint where I was running 20 minutes about 3-4 times a week is when I decided to start tapering. It has worked wonders... I honestly don't know why... but it just has.

Good luck...

That is sooo good to know!! I went through hell with Paxil and Efexor and am currently on Lexapro so good to know it's not too bad! Whenever I try to reduce I just get REALLY tired so I guess I might be wise to wait until the spring when the days are lighter. Thanks for the tip on running too - exercise is so helpful.

Love positive posts like yours!
