I just started Lexapro. Im worried that it is so new. Do we know what it does yet? what are long term effects? im reading up on all this bad stuff about prozac and Effexor. This makes me afraid to take any medication at all. should I just go herbal? I'm also taking Ambien at night. so let me know if you know anything about the combination of these or each of these drugs separately.

Have been on Lex since Feb., and there are others who post here who have been on it longer. Many of us have had good results. There can not be any longer term studies as to harmful effects of Lexapro simply because it hasn't been around long enough.
Lex effects could be similar to Celexa, the *parent* drug, and that may be a better avenue of research as to long term effects.
Best of luck to you.~~~8|8
