Hello to all. I am on effexor xr 75 mg, this is my third week. I am also on klonopin .5 mg as needed. the thing is, the effexor has me feeling weird, or is it the klonopin.. i feel kind of spacey and difficult concentrating. my heart races a lot, skips beats and such. Today, i felt a panic attack coming on (that is what the effexor is supposed to be helping) so i took a klonopin, but later i still felt spacey, but yet kinda jittery and nervous, heart still racing, and feeling dizzy. I don't know what's going on. is the effexor too activating, maybe? should i just rely on klonopin long term to control my anxiety instead? any advice? thanks

You should report those side effects to your doctor. He/she can tell you if they are normal or not. I take Klonopin, it makes me feel spacey, but doesn't speed up my heart. I took Effexor for about a week and it made me extremely sick. I couldn't handle the side effects. God bless you.

hey thanks. you know, i don't really have depression or severe crippling anxiety. I mean, i can function pretty decently, despite my hypochondria and occassional panic attacks. So, i figure, maybe an ativan or a klonopin as needed for the attacks is better than taking a strong med like effexor everyday, right? does that sound rational?
