Can anyone please tell me how to get get rid of this headache when coming off of these types of drugs? What causes this horrible pain in the top of my head? It feels almost like it's my scalp that hurts, but I don't see how stimulants could just affect the scalp.
Do any of you that take these meds have any tips, even better, do you know WHY you get these headaches?
Thanks

Pure speculation: Stimulants constrict your blood vessels. They dilate when you crash. That could cause a migrain. Migrains sometimes feel like tension headaches on the surface.

I've tried all the stimulants at one time or another. I only got those weird isolated headaches from Ritalin/Concerta. Drinking a lot of water helped a little, and Aleve helped a bit too.
I have no idea why this happens - but I agree that the headaches are awful!!! Maybe try Straterra or Dexedrine...? Sorry I can't be more helpful!!

Ibuprofen is helpful.

I know the feeling!!! I have found that the biggest ache is at the base of my skull at the top of my kneck. I have not found Ibuprofen or any other anti-inflammatory helpful. Actually, quite the contrary. I have used a heating pad on the back of my kneck. It seems to work a small miracle. These chemicals often cause vaso-constriction. Heat tends to relax the soft muscle tissue by opening up the veins and increasing blood flow.
