I'm suffering from extreme anxiety. This has been made worse by Lexapro. My pdoc gave me a prescription for perphenazine (4mg). Have any of you tried it for anxiety? I'm very worried about taking a new med and it doesn't seem like many of you talk about it.

Hi...you can find quite a bit about the drug here: http://www.mentalhealth.com/drug/p30-t05.html
At the dose you are on, you shouldn't have problems with TD or many of the warning listed at the above website. But, if you feel more comfortable and have a drug plan that will pay for the, some of the newer antipsychotics (Seroquel, Risperdal, Zyprexa) are "said" to possibly cause fewer of the TD/CNS side-effects. (You should read up on these for your own knowledge.)
Please let us know how you make out, as I have been asking my doctor to try me on a similar med, mostly for financial reasons. (I don't have a drug plan.)
Best wishes!
Jay

Hi, perphenazine is a potent antipsychotic.
Your pdoc sounds great!
Alone, perphenazine can be used to treat anxiety and agitation in some patients.
Also the combo of amitriptyline and perphenazine is available in several variations so that the amount of each medicine can be customized to the patient. Some combinations of amitriptyline and perphenazine include Estrafon, which contains both drugs.
Maybe try Etrafon?
Good luck:-)> I'm suffering from extreme anxiety. This has been made worse by Lexapro. My pdoc gave me a prescription for perphenazine (4mg). Have any of you tried it for anxiety? I'm very worried about taking a new med and it doesn't seem like many of you talk about it.

Jay,
I cut the 4mg. in half for the past two nights and it seems to be working. Anxiety is better. I still feel crappy, but I am less anxious.
I tried Seroquel and it made me more anxious!
