fish oil

I heard that docosahexaenoic DHA raises levels of dopamine( which is why it is useful for adhd?)
How potently does it raise dopamine ?

Fatty acids with varying chain lengths (2-22 carbon atoms long) and degrees of unsaturation (0-6 double bonds) were used to synthesize dopaminergic compounds for a study of the carrier mediated transport of dopamine (DA) to the brain. The most active carrier was the all cis C22:6 fatty acid [docosahexaenoic acid, (DHA)]which increased DA uptake through the blood-brain barrier by greater than 7.5 fold. The DHA-DA compound, NMI 8739, depressed the general locomotor activity of mice in a dose dependent manner. It also suppressed the appetite of Balb c mice and Charles River rats by 50% and 95% respectively at a dose of 10 mg/kg. Daily administration of NMI-8739 for a three week period did not induce tolerance. These results demonstrate DHA's potential for the carrier mediated transport of small molecules to the brain.

This is outdated, but it helped me understand my grandfather's death a little when he was taking fish oils, but has no reference to ADHD:

My friend gave me this site:

I know someone else can help you more...

He had coronary heart disease, had a heart transplant, and took fish oils, so yes it was just a shock to my family and I.

First, he had coronary heart disease, then he received a heart transplant, and after all this, he started fish oils. He died 2 months after starting fish oils, but it probably had nothing to do with them. He had a history of heart problems obviously.
I used the site above to do research and didn't quite find any 'good' info.

sorry, I was posting over at Alternative.
I have heard VERY good stories and experiences about fish oils and flaxseed oils for cardiovascular health. There are some great posts here at PB in the archives.
My grandfather was an exception I guess.
Goodnight.
