We've all been so busy with school I thought we mightconnect here before anywhere else.
Im on the 3rd pdoc and looking for a 4th. pretty discouraged at the moment.
In the mean time Im self medicating and ive got a drawer full of meds to do it.The last pdoc mumbled something about BP (youve said that all along,)
Iam still on WB xl. He wants me to stop and go on benzos an lithium. Hes nuts.
The lithium is a good fit I figure and long overdue.
The WB was inducing mania and im definately not sleeping. But I cant function on benzo'z. I dont know what this guy is thinking. Im moving on.In the mean time. Im staying on the WB, I take it a 7:00 am. Im exausted by 5:00pm, and my nerves I fried. But if i can make it till bed time, Im good. (I can always use the benzos if Im really a wreck right?
He told me to take the lithium at bedtime 450mg.
But Ive started to take a half of one in the morning also. I notice my nerves feel a little calmer.
So thats my plan till I find another pdoc
WB xl am
Lithium am and pm
Neurontin am and pm
xanax or ativan as needed
What do you think? Does this sound like a good BP plan?I still feel like theres a ADHA or OCD aspect, but cant fine tune any further till I find a pdoc I like.

Certainly take the lithium if it seems to be working. Sometimes you can augment lithium with other meds so that high doses are not necessary. Sometimes high doses work very well.
I personally would never turn down a benzo prescription. The general Ideas is that he probably wants you to take benzo's until the lithium starts to work properly. Doctors are very plyable - especially when you have found something that works. So if, say, lithium was working well without the benzo's - don't be afraid to tell him - if the benzo's cause adverse effects - tell him. A good doctor generally works with you - ultimately its you who must decide what works and what doesn't.
Surprisingly, I have heard that Wellbutrin and lithium do go well together - (not sure of the doses involved however)
Good Luck
P.S. Yes I am very buisy myself - infact I got my first apointment with a psychiatrists the other day. He wanted me to take parnate. Even though I wasn't feeling to bad on the regime I was on. I guess its a good idea seeing as in school it is easy to relapse.Linkadge

Ive only taken the lithium for 4 days so I cant say yet. But lithium has a pretty good reputation for stabilizing BP.
What is a high dose?
Im taking 450mg at bedtime.
And half that in the morning (my idea)

I kind of figured this but he told me to stop the wellbutrin. I dont think I could function on just benzos and lithium. So I decided to continue WB despite his advice. And I did get the ativan.

Usually 900 is a theraputic dose.
However I've seen as high as 1800mg
