Dr.Bob, why is it that some of these posts appear as posted by you? I can see this one comes via Divadawnotto69, but I want to know why it and others show up under your user name. Thanks

This is quite common. bob redirects posts
when they are posted and it is clear, if you read the post, who posted it.

Thanks, I never thought of reading any of the posts. Asking a question was entirely innapropriate of me in a forum such as this. stjames must be the patron saint of tact.

They show up as posted by me because they are in fact posted by me. But they're just copies of posts by others. It's my way of moving them from other boards when I think they fit in better here.

I'm sorry if you don't find all responses helpful, but please don't be sarcastic:

I'm sorry. I apologize sincerely to you and to stjames. I was intentionally trying to be uncivil and it was a petty minded thing to do. I won't be sarcastic in the future.
Thanks for your response.

Where are you, can I ask? In the UK there was a story in the papers over the weekend where Effexor (I'm on it for depression, I'm 21) has been put on a list of medications to be withdrawn from use in some circumstances -
specifically, Effexor isn't to be given to "adolescents or children"... I don't know if that's for depression alone, or what, but I would look into this carefully. I'm just out of range of being an "adolescent" and wonder how they judge it... makes me very angry.
Good luck

I believe I've read where the UK only diagnoses about 10% (per capita) of cases of ADHD or ADD that U.S. shrinks do in children. While I most definitely have seen symptoms first hand in children, the fact remains that our schools don't have the manpower to handle children with these symptoms and therefore insist they be given drugs. As a parent of a child with a rather severe anxiety disorder, my approach has been using a therapist to learn behaviors to cope with his symptoms rather than the drugs that I take. My own psychiatrist has said that the outlook for children treated this way is much better then medicating them. I understand how difficult it is to work with a child who can't settle down (or other symptoms) and again how difficult a decision it is to use drugs or not. I would hope you can get a second opinion and perhaps speak to a psychologist on alternative treatments.
I wish you all the best- judy
