Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this.
I have been having anxiety for about 2 years now, which has now turned into extreme anxiety. I have been seeing a behavoral counselor for 3 months and have tried St Johns Wart. Since these have not helped I have recently gotten a prescription for Lexapro.
Last evening I drank a few glasses of wine, which is very normal for me, had a decent sized dinner and then took Lexapro for the first time before I went to bed. I woke up at 1:00 am feeling like I had taken 10 tabs of acid and had the worst trip that is ever possible. I couldnt close my eyes until 8 and I can still feel it, and it is now 4 pm.
My questions are these: 1) Can you drink alcohol while taking Lexapro and if not what does it do? I have looked up other posts here which mentioned that some people can still drink and the only negative to drinking while taking lexapro is that it extremely hightens the alcohol affect. Last night was NOT an alcohol affect. I honestly thought I was going to not wake up.
2) As I stated before I have been taking St Johns Wart. Is it possible that the 2 are just, well, acting like siblings and not getting along? I did take St Johns Wart yesterday morning and have been taking it daily for 4 or 5 months.
I cant see how either of these can cause the affect of last night. Please inform me on this. Thank you for your time.
