Has everyone that's taken Effexor gained weight? The doctor didn't seem to think I'd gain any more than I have on Paxil. I can't afford to take both Paxil and wellbutrin to offset the sleepiness from the Paxil. I have to switch to just one medicine. The question is which one?

Hi BJL, I was on Effexor for years and the most weight I gained was about 10 pounds. How much did you gain on Paxil? How long have you been on it?

I lost weight at first and then gained 20 pounds. Couldn't lose it no matter what I did. When I went off of Effexor (after 5 years on it) I finally was able to lose the 20 and am now back to my "normal" size.

I have gained 60 pounds since being on Paxil (almost 4 years). I hate being fat. I hate having no energy. But, I can't go off these medicines because I get way too depressed and irritable, and it doesn't go away.
