Has anyone lost weight on Effexor???

Posted by KRM123 on July 17, 2003, at 10:27:37

Supposedly- Effexor and Wellbutrin are the meds that are least likely to cause weight gain. I've heard from many that they've lost weight on Wellbutrin, but I was wondering about losing on Effexor when taken at a dose of 150mg or more. Does the Norephrinephine have anything to do with speeding up metabolism or helping to depress the appetite? Any input would be appreciated -thanks.

Hi there,
Just thought I would let you know, that I have lost over 5 stone from taking 225mg of effexor XL for one year.
That was the amount of weight I put on during my severe depresion.
It is diferent for everyone and I know some people here have put ON weight with Effexor...
But it has been my experience that it dulls my appetite completely.

Things have changed recently, with the addition of Zyprexa (appetite increase) though.

Hope this helps...
Best of luck
Tay

I lost a few (about 5) pounds on Wellbutrin (starting at 100mg and going up to 400). I then gained it again. I stopped meds for a while now went on Effexor (75 mg) and my breast size has increased a cup size, but my weight is only up 1 pound and I've been on Effexor a few months. My Dr. said some gain 10-13 pounds on Effexor. Hmm.
