Hi,
I know moclobemide seems to have very mild side efects. But i never heard anything about its efficacy as AD.
Could you share any experience about a real effectiveness? And side effects?

I have been taken Moclo in the past. As antidepressant Moclo is a solid rocket booster. It was very very effective, except for one thing, it gave me a lot of anxiety. Moclo is very stimulating. You might take a look here: http://www.mentalhealth.com/ and do a search for Moclobemide or Manerix.

Simply said, moclobemide can be an ideal drug for some people. It is usually devoid of significant side effects. However, it is generally considered to be less effective than other antidepressants. Many people experience an improvement within the first week, only to see it disappear, despite increasing dosages. It is not unusual for some people to need as much as 900mg to maintain a therapeutic response. I think moclobemide has been declining in popularity. It is worth a try, though. If you experience a temporary improvement with it, it might indicate that one of the irreversible MAO inhibitors (Parnate, Nardil, Marplan) would work well.Good luck.

Hi JGm,
I tried Moclobemide last year and unbelievably, had absolutely no side effects. Well, I guess that explains why it did nothing to help my depression. It was like taking a dummy pill--maybe it even made my depression worse. I'll never know. I only know that I'll never try this stuff again. I believe that the only viable, tolerable AD for me is MAOI Parnate.

Moclobemide made my depression much, much worse. I ended up laying on the couch all day long curled up in a fetal position. Scary. The only time I felt 100% well was on a combination of Parnate + desipramine (Norpramin).

Moclobemide has been very good to me. Actually, moclobemide + aniracetam. I never knew what I was missing until adding moc. Just my experience, though. Most people seem not to like it. I love it.

my doc just said:"I dont use it anymore, cause it does not work very well". another one:"the effect is not very good, but I have combined it with low dose of a SSRI and this worked very well, for some.."
