Continuing down here, this place is busy! I was only taking 25 mgs. of Zoloft. I feel pretty cruddy without it (extra anxiety). I think I may add it back. Do you think losing 23 pounds in two in a half months would be considered "drastic" weight loss? I have been reading that "drastic" weight loss can cause hairloss. I am on Lamictal 100 per day and Remeron 30 per day (was at 45, caused 8 pounds of water retention I couldn't deal with). Although I must say, I DID like the higher dose Remeron, more energy, less sedation.

Uh, come to think of it-I had a lot of carbohydrate cravings with Zoloft. That has never happened with any of the other SSRI's. Hmmm. Could be that ditching the Zoloft is what caused the weight loss (you stopped munching as many carbs?). Twenty-three pounds of weight loss sounds GREAT! If I could lose that much weight and keep it off I would be right at my ideal lean weight. Maybe your hair loss will stop when your weight loss stops. You might want to reconsider adding back Zoloft, IMO. What do you think?

Actually I lost most of the weight before I quit the Zoloft. After ditching the Zoloft I lost 7 pounds. I tried everything to lose the med weight, only doing Atkins helped me lose the weight. Have you ever tried Atkins before? I have a call in to my regular doctor to see if he has a clue about the hairloss. Hopefully he will call me back! The reason I am thinking about adding the Zoloft back is for the anxiety. Seems to me that the hairloss must be diet or weight loss related. I never lost hair on these med before then. Can there be a delayed reaction to cause hairloss with these meds?

I'm stumped on that one (hair loss). I've been on a diet one time and it was the no fat Pritikin diet back in the early '80's after I gained about SIXTY pounds after I quit smoking. I lost it all back and actually started getting anorexic and needed to add some fat. Just an opinion, but I think just about any diet can cause weight loss because you start paying *attention* to what you are eating. I must say that I *feel* better eating a higher proportion of protein than I normally do. If you go back on Zoloft, maybe just 12.5mg/day would be enough?
