Help! Med withdrawl Imipamine

Posted by mystery on May 25, 2003, at 20:12:59

Hi. I take imipramine and ran out. Stupid Walmart pharmacy will not be open again until Tues due to Memorial Day. Not ONE of there pharmacies will be open. When I have missed a med by accident I feel sick. Nausea, sweats, headaches and I become very short and nasty. Does anyone have any advice for how to get through this time til I get my meds again? Thanks.

Try anti-histamines - CONTACT C or any
anti-histamine (but this is iffy and personal);
Imipramine is partly anti-histamine and
anticholinergic and your withdrawal are partly
that. I would strongly recommend going
to EMERGENY and say i am withdrawing, give me
two, and bring your valid bottle prescription.

Count yourself lucky that you are on a long acting
AD. It will take a month of so for imipamine to totally wash out, so missing a few days will still leaves your with quite a bit of AD in your body. The crash is far worse on a short acting AD.
For me, missing a few days was no issue, on Tofranil.
Atavin would be my first choice to cope, then benedryl if the only choice is OTC.
