Hello everyone!
I'm interested in hearing anyone's experience or knowledge about alternative treatments for anything. I don't know what I have (maybe schizotypal disorder) but I'd like to know if alternative treatments are generally an option to drug therapy. I've been on Efexor and it creates this terrible state of not being. I'm now also on Risperdal and am afraid it will make me feel the same way. Does anyone have any experience about this?

Hi Ace
I've been diagnosed with severe depression (psyhotic although I disagree) and as having suspicious personality. In my personality profile feelings of anxiety/agitation are emphasized. What I feel is that my personality is kind of scattered and I'm extremely fearful and have probably always been depressed. Those are the main features. Have any info about alternative treatments?

Maybe i'm wrong to say this, but, if you find that the Risperdal is not helping you at all (or is only making things worse) then just tell your doc and insist on getting off the stuff (i do hope you find it helpful though). Also i think a low dose would be more likely to help, like .25 or .5 mg max. maybe.
i've been trying alternative treatments for years, and, though i've rarely used high doses of anything (due to monetary limits and what not), i must say that i have never obtained much benefit at all. Ginseng and Rhodiola can be decent mood-brighteners at times. i duno. Yeah nothings really helped. sorry. This post is a waste. Sorry.
Oh, well, not alternative but if you're looking for a good med MAOIs are often quite effective for severe depression. Nardil would probably be best (rather than Parnate) since you have alot of fear and maybe schizotypality.
Sincerly wishing you hope and help.. Good luck.

Hi "questionmark"
Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I will be talking to my doctor about different options (like different anti-depressants). Your post WAS helpful so thank you. =) -Tiina
