I'm on 60mg. of Nardil and my Pdoc wants to add Ritalin for daytime sedation and ADD syptoms. Anyone know what is the safest way to do this?

Hey,
Wow, this very tricky. But I have seen the "Nardil" God ... Dr. Fredrick Quitken from Columbia on consult once. I was/am having sexual dysfuntion, insomnia, weight gain and memory difficulties on nardil ... I saw him for some advice.
He said I could add a small dose of dexadrine to the nardil to help the memory, sexual, weight problems. He told me to get the 5mgs tablets and start with a quarter tablet each day. If I tolerated that okay, he said I could taper up to the full table ONLY IF NEEDED.
I was floored by this recommendation .... a stimulant with an MAOI. But he is the Nardil Guru.

Are you/doctor fearing hypertension? I had normal blood pressure before Nardil, and untill recently it's been pretty stable. It's never been extremley high, but low. I'm also at 60mg.
I guess I may be an exception with hypertension because I haven't had a problem with anything on the list. I have even been able to handle very small amounts of methamphetamine (dexedrine doesn't do much of anything for me) and meth containing drugs like MDMA (please no lectures or web links, I am well aware about their negatives). Although I have to say that I will probably shy from the meth because of the awlful blood pressure crash I get after it's run it's course. Best wishes.

I've been on the combo for about a month and a half. I now am up to 90mg Nardil and 25mg
Ritalin.Absolutely no problems. BP is normal or below normal. We were very carefull at first. I had to sit in my Pdoc's waiting room after taking the first Ritalin. He would come out and check my BP between patients. Then he wanted me to wait a week and try 2-3 more 5mg tablets of Ritalin.
I didn't show up at his office, instead I increased it on my own, carefully checking BP several times a day. I would wait another week to make another 5mg. increase and check my BP with my own pressure machine. Now I don't even bother to check it!
What a magnificent cocktail!! I HIGHLY recommend anyone augmenting Nardil this way!!
Guidelines: Make sure you are on a stable dose of Nardil. Give it at least 4 weeks to build up a constant blood level. Now add Ritalin! Just remember to go up only 5mg. of Ritalin every few days or a week. And check BP often. Especially about an hour after administering Ritalin. Use a reliable BP machine!
