Have you noticed a big difference between Nardil and Parnate?
I am contemplating Parnate for OCD - Nardil is not so good for OCD but Parnate is?
How do they differ - Iknow Nardil works on 3 chemicals.
Do u think ocd better treated with Parnate?
Thankyou, Sir.

I can tell you that there are differences between the two MAOIs...Parnate is more stimulating, and does not effect GABA levels.
MAOIs in general have anti-OCD properties, but I believe, for most people, the greatest relief from OCD, is gained through the SSRI class of antidepressants.
TCA's don't seem to do well
Since I don't know your history of medications, I can only offer some advice... I would suggest a higher dose of a SSRI (based on clinical studies) BEFORE moving on to the MAOIs. Be sure you have a great psychiatrist, who is willing to work WITH you, and who you feel comfortable talking to.

I'd also add to djmmm's excellent comments, that clomipramine (a TCA) is still used somewhat to treat OCD with decent success. Some people respond to it better than the SSRIs.
Also, Remeron can be used to treat OCD, though it didn't help me sadly.
If you are near Stanford/SF Bay Area, there is a trial on oral morphine for treatment resistant OCD patients going on currently...and the psych heading the study is fantastic.
Good luck treating your OCD...I can sympathize!
