Please, I need some feedback

Posted by Rainee on March 30, 2003, at 21:34:06

I have a fear of meds.
I do take lexapro just started 30 mgs.
and xanax as needed but the new Dr switched that to klonopin.
My story is I respond to the SSRI partially but I have depression that it deosn't cover and this terrible irritability that is getting worse over time.
I had even got to the pont I had a hard time letting resentments go.
any way I have to accept I need a stabilizer.
I was given some gabitril by the old doc and never took it. today I broke off a small section and took it.
I survived!..lol
any way he's not my doc anymore and the new doc wants me to try geodon.
I have samples but they are capsules and I can't break it off.
so I thought of just dumping some out and putting the capsule back together.
they are 20mgs.. but I'm so scared of the heart thing I want to start with less.
I don't know if any of you have this fear or if you can relate.
but can I take the geodon if I had a little gabatril today?
I'll take the geodon tomorrow.

Thanks for your time,
Rainee

Hi, Rainee. :) I was always reluctant to take meds too and didn't find any of them particularly helpful in the long run. I've posted elsewhere about my experience with magnesium and how I now feel completely free of depression. Here is the site that helped me: http://www.coldcure.com/html/dep.html I've also found the book, "Depression Free Naturally" by Joan Mathews Larson to be very helpful. This book evolved from her experience treating alcoholism, which is primarily what her site is about, but there's lots of info there for nonalcoholics too: http://www.healthrecovery.com/biochemical_depression.html. Melody Clark has an informative site for depression as well, including recommended books for natural treatment: http://depressionbookstore.com/

Have you investigated any of the natural remedies such as amino acids, fish oil, or considered your diet in terms of mood? Generally -- but not always, so one has to be knowledgeable and careful -- they will be less hazardous in terms of side effects.

Thank you,

I have been trying to read along with the posts you made about this but had been so ill that I couldn't concentrate very well.
I am interested in this as alcoholism runs in both sides of my family for generations.
There has gotta be a reason why some people are just born to suffer. Ya know?

Thanks,
Rainee
