Nameless Dread

Posted by FredPotter on March 21, 2003, at 3:22:16

Hi everyone This is New Zealand here. Peace and happiness to you all. For 37 years my symptoms have been those of GAD I suppose, except that with GAD you're supposed to know what you're what you're worrying about. Back in the 60s when I discovered I had Anxiety Neurosis, the main symptom was Nameless Dread and that's still the best description I know of. All day every day, knot in lower abdomen, lump in throat, fear. It's insecurity (a glib word but so awful in real life). Nothing works, including Xanax. Has any kind person got any recommendations? Finding real security is one I suppose.
Thanks everyone
Fred

It is sadly a good description Fred, I remember my cognitive therapist saying that this would be a lot easier if I could identify what exactly I was dreading, the best I could ever come up with was - the way I feel!
Just a few possible suggestions you might want to look up:
1 Holy Basil/ Ocimum Sanctum ( look in groups on google)
2 Pikamilon/ Picamilon
3 l- theanine
4 Sceletium
5 Pnt 200/ Tryptozen

You may find something worth trying here, if not let me know and I'll dig out my files as I am sure there are plenty of other possibilities in there.

Glenn

thanks Glenn I've never tried any of those (nm)

Hey there Kiwi:-) I would like to think that with GAD you're supposed to know what you're what you're worrying about-but that's not always the case I find anyway. I am on Effexor-XR which is approved for GAD as well as depression-have you heard of it there?
Hope to hear back, Kristen

Thanks for replying Kristen. I was on Effexor (they wouldn't give me XR which is what I asked for) over a year ago. It was prohibitively expensive here and most Drs have never heard of it. Anyway it came about eventually that the pharmacist told me to go back on Celexa as he couldn't find any more Effexor.
