Does anyone else get this effect from their medications? On imipramine, in particular, it can get to the point that I fall down after standing up. I never totally lose conciousness, but I've had a couple of experiences where I've momentarily lost my oreintation of time and place, which was unusual and a bit scary. Mostly, it's just annoying, though.

heck yeah -- that's very common with a lot of psych-meds -- just get up gradually and slowly and stay in one place for as long as necessary before moving on, steadying yourself by resting your arm(s) on some nearby object to improve your balance until you're ready for locomotion. you might draw a few stares, but it beats passing out!

I have had similar symptoms on clomipramine and have also fainted once while on the drug. Perhaps the TCAs cause this. How long have you been on imipramine?

Yes, I used to get it when I was on higher doses of Effexor. There were other adverse effects at higher doses, so my pdoc lowered the dose and added serzone.

Eddie,
If you feel you may lose your balance or that you experience such symptoms frequently, perhaps you might want to consider changing the drug?
