Lexapro Fog

Posted by markmn on December 18, 2002, at 10:25:44

Hi all,

I've been on Lexapro 10mg for about a month and a half. I've noticed that I have more energy etc. but I also have this lingering foggy feeling that is hard to shake. I know others have mentioned this but that it goes away in about two weeks. Anyone have this problem longer? Will it go away? I take my lexapro 3 times in the day. I take a quarter pill with breakfast, one with lunch and then a half pill with dinner. I did this to try and lessen the foggy effect. It works a little bit but I still have a disorientation problem.

thanks,
Mark

Mark,
Is there any reason your taking lexapro in these increments? Is that the way your doc told you to take it? Ive been on 10 mg for three months and I have always taken it once in the morning. My fog went away after about 2 or 3 weeks. I would think that maybe you're just prolonging the fog by taking in that manner. Do you have any trouble sleeping?
Let me know,
Peace.

Hi wharfrat,

My doc didn't tell me to do it, my reasoning was that I was getting to much of the drug all at once. Does this make any sense? I sleep okay at night. Sometimes I have night sweats but overall I'm sleep okay. Why?

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark,
Just wondering because my doc said if taken to late in the day lexapro can cause sleep difficulty. I'm just thinking maybe since your not getting the full effect all at once that is taking you longer to adjust to the med. At first taking 10 mg in the morning had some pretty weird side effects, foggy, trippy, underwater feeling but that went away after about 2-1/2 weeks with me. Maybe you should ask your doc about when and how much to take.
Good Luck
Wharfrat

Gosh!! You guys are just so helpful! Is that why I've been feeling all week (10 mgs since Monday) that I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing at work? I feel like a ditz... just can't figure out what I need to do... I thought it was just a depression symptom since I was in a med switch. Hmm...

Hi EGR,

I know how you feel. I've noticed that I have been prone to the same s/e. I too am in the finishing stages of my med switch. Were you on Paxil by chance? Hopefully this fog will go away. Also, thanks for the help wharfrat. I see my med doc on the 2nd and will ask him what he thinks.

Thanks,
mark

Hi Mark,

Yes, I was on Paxil (25 SR) but was switched because of the sse. But I felt GREAT on it... no other s/e that I noticed. Then I was on Effexor (150), then Wellbutrin (300) and now Lexapro... I'm thinking I'm not going to increase Saturday to 20, I'll just stay on 10 for a little while and see how I feel. Today's a new day, maybe we won't be so foggy.

EGR
