Keep trying - there are many medications out there. Please don't give up. I went through about 8 before I found the right med (which happened to be Effexor for me, but everyone is different).

Good luck! All I can tell you is not to give up, and don't let your doctor give up on you, either.

Effexor worked really well for me-- great mood, great energy. It did interfere with my sleep somewhat, but no worse than Prozac did. 75mg/day is a very small dose. Try taking 150 mg/day (that's the typical dose) and see how that works. If you don't see much improvement, try 225 mg. Give it at least one more month at the higher dose before abandoning it.

A word of warning, though. Effexor is really hard to quit taking, so when you decide to quit taper really slowly. I tapered from 225 mg to 150 mg to 75 mg to 37.5 mg. and did ok until I wasn't taking any at all! I should have opened the capsules and taken half of one. I felt like I had the flu. But then I felt ok after about two days.

8!?!? Eight of them!?!? How are you still alive? I'm on my fourth and if this one doesn't work, or I feel like I can't live with the side effects, I don't know WHAT I'll do. What happened with them? Did they not work, or did you have side effects?
