My doctor just recommended adding 5mg of Lexapro to my regular antidepressant regimen. My question to those who have tried it: is Lexapro better taken in the morning or the evening (that is, does it tend to be more stimulating or sedating)?
Thank you for your suggestions and advice.

Hi Mark,
I started out taking it at night, but I started waking up in the middle of the night feeling like I was having a panic attack. I was also taking 10mg. I cut down to 5mg and started taking it in the morning which helped. Everyone's experiences are different though, you'll have to let us know what yours is : )

Krysti,
Many thanks! I think I'll wait until tomorrow morning to start it. I tend towards teeth-clenching and leg-thrashing during sleep anyway (and take 0.25mg clonazepam to help counter-act them), so I might be better off trying Lexapro adjunctively during the day.
Best wishes,

Hi Mark,
I would definitely take it in the morning then. I also did notice I was clenching my teeth more too when I took it at night.
Hope it works for you : )

Lex makes me very sleepy, so I take it at night. Everyone is different!

My Dr. switched me from celexa 40mg to lexapro 10mg twice a day. This is my 3 day and I don't notice any difference. When should I notice anything? The only thing bothering me on celexa was a couple sides, and Dr. said this should help with that. Any info for me?
