I still stand by what I say. Lexapro is what helps me to function as a normal person. It is sent from God, in my eyes. It breaks my heart to hear people trashing it and not even giving it a chance! Trust me, if you are on or were previously on Celexa, either 20 or 40 mg. and switch to Lexapro, you will notice a significant improvement. Already on it? Experiencing side effects? I don't know what to tell you. I have none. Maybe that you may have to lower your dosage and double up with another medication. I already know I'm going to get follow ups from people who are going to try an ridicule my claims. Go ahead. But I am simply saying all of this because I am actually ON the drug and I know what I'm talking about. I rest my case.

I agree =) I love Lexapro. The first few days were bad, but after about day 4, I felt great! The only s/e I have now (today was week 4 exactly) is a decreased appetite. I always tell people this: at least give Lexapro a chance. The first few days of s/e's are worth it in the end to be able to feel wonderful once again!

I am going to give Lexapro a chance-- I thought I was over most of the side effects, but tonight in class I thought I was going to grind my teeth out of my head. I felt a resurge of that serotonin muscle tension thing, and I was a little people-phobic. It's my eighth day. Hoping I get to that smoother ride soon.

After grinding my teeth and shaking my leg all night in school I came home still unable to unwind. In desperation I finally took a Xanax which felt like water, and half an Ambien, which would usually knock me out in 5 minutes. Two hours later I'm still lying in bed shaking my legs with excess energy--I don't think it's that awful agitation syndrome that was mentioned, although I am certainly not relaxed. I just feel speedy, physically more than anything. I don't feel suicidal or really horrible mentally, but I do feel queasy and underneath all this I'm quite exhausted. Oh what weirdness this way wanders. I was wrong, by the way it's my ninth day at 10 mgs. Oh well.

That's how I felt on Zoloft. When I stopped the Zoloft, it stopped. Pretty simple really.

..it was just a fluke. I hadn't had that restless leg thing happen before, and the side effects seemed to be going away until last night. I was hoping maybe it would pass.

Hi Mudbunny (cute name!) I have been on Lexapro for a little over a month now. Before, I was taking 40 mg. of Celexa and 5 mg. of Zyprexa. (an antipsychotic) I stopped Zyprexa early on in my treatment because it was making my panic and anxiety worse, and making me so drowsy, I couldn't drive a car. I stayed on 40 mg. of Celexa for a while, then talked to my doctor about my lack of sex drive. I was then put on 15 mg. of Buspar along with the Celexa. Well, this helped my sex drive, but I needed about 14 hours of sleep just to feel decent. Frustrated, and tired of dealing with it, as well as explaining to loved ones what was wrong with me, I went to see a psychiatrist. He then prescribed 10 mg. of Lexapro. I had stopped taking my Celexa for about a week, and I feared that taking my Lexapro would give me the same drowsy, dizzy symptoms. I took it at night, had the best sleep I've had in a while, and awoke VERY refreshed. As for weight gain, I've actually lost weight because of my desire to be active and eat healthier. I guess the fact that I'm 18 may have something to do with it too. Hope that answers your question! :)

Wow, that is not good. What is your dosage? Have you talked to your doctor about these symptoms? If you have the symptoms of serotonin syndrome (can't keep limbs from shaking or moving, grinding of teeth, muscle tension, fever, hot flashes) you NEED to see your doctor immedietly. When I say give Lexapro a chance, I am saying this to someone who's never tried it, and isn't responding well on their medication. Please see your doctor. Also, are you drinking lots of coffee, and/or drinking moderately? If so, stop. In fact, don't drink any coffee or alcohol at all. I used to drink this ephendrine free speed stack that I bought at GNC. It had synephrine in it, disguised as an innocent "bitter orange extract" and after a few hours of feeling wired, I actually could not stop shaking my leg and arm. It was like I had to keep doing it, it almost felt good. I did that in my sleep too, and awoke very anxious and restless. I told my mom, (she's a nurse) and she watched over me the whole night while also making me drink plenty of water. So after that night, I pledged not too have any additives in my system while on the medication.

Yes, I've tried lots of other medications before. I'm thinking maybe there was an interaction with something else I tok for sleep the night before-- last night was much better. If it happens again I will surely tell my doctor. Thanks.
This is the end of the thread.
