Hello All,
This is my first time posting on this board. I found it while surfing on google.com after I started back on anti-depressants. I went to the doctor and I started taking Effexor XR Tuesday morning so today is day 3. I have experienced some problems after the medicine "runs out". Other than that I feel much better during the day. I think things will resolve after some time has passed and I get use to the medicine.I do have a question about finding a new counselor. I have tried looking online but I haven't found any searches that I liked. Is there a good website to find a counselor? I'm not sure what I really need... just someone to visit with because all my medical issues will be taken care of by my doctor. Let me know what you think.

Have you asked you PCP if he/she knows of a good pychologist?..a good one is hard to find ..sometimes you have to interveiw more then one to find one with the "ideal's" that you are looking for...good luck..how are you doing with the Effexor?..it can be a great med for some people,,,just a small advice ..take it the same time every day...it has a very short half life and can cause some lousy side effects if you mess with the time ...anyhoo take care,,let us know how things work out..

I take it in the morning. How exact does the timing need to be? I seem to be doing better each day although I have been experiencing stomach cramps last night and this morning. This medicine certainly has it side effects and I see to be feeling them. I start on the second week next Tuesday. So moving from a regular dose of 37.5 in the morning and adding a 37.5 dose in the evening. I have noticed that my appetite has been greatly reduced. Which might be a good thing. :)
I really hope that when the dosage goes up and some time passes I can get use to the medicine. If not then I guess I will have to look for something else. I will be sure and remember to ask the doctor about the psychologist or counselor when I go back in about a week.
