killer, higher levels of Remeron could do the trick for your ocd, without the sexual SE's....but you'll get increased morepin. levels which may cause other problems.

Hey Colin,
Sounds like you are feeling a little better from the posts I have seen. I had two horrible days last week, but have stayed somewhat even the last month or so. NO excercise. I stabilized after giving up biking to work. We moved, and it tripled my time to about 30 minutes. I would feel ok that day but eventually my sleep and mood went to hell. It took a week or so to even out. So, I think it is the TCA. I have a big exam in a month so will not tinker with the meds until after. I hope to try lexapro and get off that TCA. Then if I stabilize after changing I will start excercising and see what happens. I hope I can drop some of the benzo and lithium if I can get to working out and feeling good. I am also considering just dropping the TCA and seeing how I fair after implementing excercise(I know my doc won't like that idea). I am just trying to get through the test and work and then will see what happens. Thanks for asking. Hope things are going well....anything new and exciting? take care

I had the same experience. The fish oil seemed to cause the same symptoms I experience when my anxiety and depression are bad, which are similar to the ones you listed: increased and restless REM sleep and fatigue and nervous 'twitching'. Dr. Michael Norden, in his book 'Beyond Prozac', seems to be one of the pioneers in using omega oils in psychiatry. He states that they are very powerful substances, and hence we should use them very cautiously.
Also, Norden talks about the need for balance with omega oils, and for example how the 'overuse' of one could offset the balance of another. This, as he says, could make us feel even much worse, and exacerbate our symptoms. There is a fairly good explanation here:
http://www.innvista.com/health/fats/omega.htm They don't seem to be selling anything, and that seems to be a good sign of some objectivity. There is plenty of info around the net on these things, and I would suggest folks do as much research as possible before giving a good trial of these supplements.

killerdice, in post above of mine, I MEANT to say that higher-dosed Remeron increases norepinephrine levels.

I'm on Neurontin and Effexor and actually started taking Fish oil because I read it helps metabolize glucose better. I thought it might help with weight loss. I work out a lot and I've been taking it for two weeks and its seems to make a difference. However I started experiencing these horrible nightmares, not sure if its coincendence or not and sometimes I get this weird restlessness.
Thanks
Noelle

Are you still taking fish oil? How many were you taking a day that caused your anxiety and sleep problems? How many (if any) are you taking now.

You're out of luck. IMO and IME, the only really effective meds for OCD are the SSRIs and clomipramine, all of which have horrible sexual side effects.
Weeeeee. It's a fun choice isn't it? Be psycho or be asexual.
