How do I know if I have narcolepsy w/o going to a doc? I've read a little and it seems like I have some of the symptoms - and it would explain A LOT if I have it. Mom won't let me go, and w/o good evidence that I can point out she won't believe me to ask the doc herself.

Try checking over this site & make sure you read the Causes & Symptoms links listed at the bottom before you conclude anything. Even going to a doctor, he'd probably have to refer you to a sleep lab for more extensive tests. Many doctors still think narcolepsy means dropping instantly from wakefulness to being asleep, midsentence. If you don't (& few cases are that extreme), they figure you don't have it. No slighting doctors, but like mine said, most of the time they see nothing but upper respiratory infections, arthritis, & ear infections. They can get behind on recent medical news very easily.
Here's the site: http://www.sleepdisorderchannel.net/narcolepsy/
And if you really want to dig for more information, this site has an extensive lists of links to other narcolepsy sites: http://www.narcolepsy.org/narc.links.html
This is the end of the thread.
