The first hour after the morning dose (2.5 mgs.) I feel sleepy, then the next two hours I feel calm and happy, then I feel down and agitated and have a headache. Is this common? and does this yo-yo effect go away? Does the extended release forumla help get rid of these type of symptoms?
I also take Lamictal, Remeron, Risperdal and Zoloft (I am bipolar).

Adderall XR is very good. Why are you on such a low dose?
I take 60 mg a day. I don't think you getting much effect at that dose.

Those are not the usual side effects. 2.5 mg is a very low dose, probably too low to do any good and just high enough to have negatives effects. On the other hand , it may not be interacting with your other medication very well. Usually the side effects are dry mouth, and difficulty in sleeping, a feeling of well being followed by possible depression, less appetite - as it is speed.
