starting dosage on L-Tryptophan?

Posted by chefmws on June 19, 2002, at 10:13:51

first some background info.

last month i mentioned to my pdoc my interest in moving to L-Tryp instead of taking celexa for my depression and anxiety. i stated to her that i was interested in that path since it appeared to be a more natural solution to treating my problems. she said that she would have to do some reading on it to verify some of the information i gave her and that it could be something to try.

today i had another medcheck appointment with the pdoc (assume pdoc means psychiatry doc) and she told me that we could proceed with the L-Tryp. she wants to taper the celexa down as i ramp up the L-Tryp dosage. i asked her if she had any dosing recommendations, she said that she did not since i was her first patient to try this path.
i told her that i would find out what is a starting dosage and get that information to her so that we could track my progress.

this is very exciting for me because i do not like taking meds that the pharm companies are not 100% sure how it works. i would much rather take something that is a naturally occuring chemical and use that.

i am wanting to find out if anyone here has any recommendations as to a starting dosage for
L-Tryp or if anyone knows of a website i could go to for that information or if they know of a pdoc i could email for recommendations.

i have a pharmacy here in atlanta that does compounding so i can get the L-Tyrp without a real big hassle.

if you do not want to post a reply here then please email me with your information.

thanks,
mark
