Posted by reese1 on March 16, 2002, at 16:35:57

i have gotten to the age where i have been through everything and everyone

33yrs of age
medication for close to ten years
bi polar
add
severe learning disabilites

was taking
lithium
depakote
celexa
adderall
risperdal
clonzapam

was keeping me alive. that is all. my shrink gave up. through a friend i found a knew one. she seemed brilliant at first. added and erased meds

ereased
neurontin 2400
lithium 6000mg
clonapam 1mg
adderall 60mg
risperdal .5
celexa 80mg

switched to
effexor xr 150
lamactal 50mg
topamax 50mg

she then added with my recommendation ultram then buprenex

my standing know is brutal. my girlfriend is terrified of leaving me alone. my psychiatrist has no interest in seeing me weekly and does not call back.

she will not change or ask about meds. i am on nothing. only thing that holds me on is the buprenex

please help if anyone has recommendations.

i have been through to many hospitals, programs, etc

my insurance won't even pay for the goddam topamax
and i'm paying over five hundred a month for it. or actually my mom is since i'm not even able to work anymore. i never knew what the word humility was till this became me and me is barely trying to be it

thank you

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but take a look here...

http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.psychiatrists.html

"This is a listing of the top psychiatrists in the U.S.A. specializing in the treatment of individuals with all types of depressive disorders including Bipolar (manic- depressive) Disorder, Cyclothymia, Dysthymia, Major Depression, and other mood disorders.
"

I think it lists 6 in NY... Good luck.

Dr. Goldberg's list is a good one. Also, if things get bad, don't hesitate to go to the hospital. I'm considering it myself.

Hang in there.

I didn't know there is a list of recommended pdocs? I found my best pdoc at an emergency clinic at a hospital. He decided to take me on full time as a patient after I told him of all my frustration with my other doctors.

best regards
John
